The Blues Effect

Well its offical it looks like I’ll be going to the battle of the borders this weekend to kick some canucks in the arse! After getting some time off of work i’ll be there represent new york along with cliff (captain comet) and few others. Now testing for the saturday main event most commence. Lets look at a few deck possibilites that really strong in this format with their associated decklist.

First we have avengers reservist.

It would seem that this deck is very versitle against a wide variety of decks in a goldenage field. The deck has the ability to go curve or off curve and still be devastating. With cards like hawkeye and natasha

ramanooff in the mix the deck has the capabilited to handle off curve decks quite effeciently.this would probably explain why such a deck has taken the crown at many players’ prior bring your own team events. The problem with this deck is that it tends to lose to much faster decks out there such as quickfate or 12man.

The original Quickfate deck is a coalation of
Multiple teams but it is very possible for such a deck to be made purely single team. In fact I won my local byot event and here is the build

The quicksilver varients in this format is a beast and not much can handle its raw power unless a stronger agrro or control is played. The ability for a character to attack multiple times for large amounts is quite difficult for most decks to handle. Especially in bring your own team.

Another team that is very powerfull in this format is ant-imatter by way of anti-green lanterns or most noteably known as agl. Here is a common list:

As you can see it is a primarily a super aggro hidden deck that many decks in this format have trouble dealing with. With a flood of oversized characters mixed with huge attacks pumps makes this deck a turn 4 killing machine. What makes this deck even better is that since its release more huge attack pumps have been printed that can be used early such as big leagues, blinding rage, and bizarro beatdown.

The decks weakness is that it does auto lose to certain card such as hawkeye and speedy.

what makes it worst is that both cards belong to very strong popular teams in this format.

makes it very difficult for some decks to even compete. For this reason alone its arguely understandable why the deck was on top of the metagame for so long in the past. The only weakness this deck has is its tendency to lose to super aggro decks.

You may notice that the teams I’ve mention are all from goldenage sets but there are even teams in current rotation of sets that power full like shield!

Shield is insane in this formate because it has two very strong decks by way of shield burn

these two decks have the ability to kill super fast before most decks get on their feet.

another deck team/arch type I believe people have slept on and is pretty strong in this format is sentinals by way of curve sentinels(minus magneto and adam warlock in his place(mun)

Curve sentinals is arguebily one of the most successful decks to ever arise from the vsystem game.There where many reasons why this deck was the king of the hill in the early stages of the game for almost 2 years. The main reason is the deck is so consistent and its open ability for tech slots is very large. Cards like search and destry, total anarchy, micro sentinels, cover fire, apocolips, and finishing move make this deck very versitle. The list of cards can go on and on, its just a solid deck.

Testing for the battle of the borders is going to be intense especially since I’m starting late. but in due time my deck will be choosen and i help domniate the event and take one for the team of U.S of A.
