Hello Everyone and welcome back to the Blues Effect. Some frustrating turn of events has taken part in the last few weeks.
I had full intentions of competing at the upcoming midwinter regional but received a very skeptical email From the tournament organizer two weeks before the event. That email stated that with the support of upper deck the decision was made to not allowed me to compete due to issues i had with a certain player that took place almost a year ago. As you can see below:
What had me question the validity of the email was due to the fact that upper deck never informed me about this like most tournament hosting companies issuing player bans. So after multiple attempts to reach out to upper deck via email, dms on discord, the only response i received was that my email was received and i will be contacted soon. Since i have yet to get any official conclusion on this matter from upper deck i am going to respect the wishes of the tournament organizer and not attend. I apologize to all those that were looking forward to compete against me this coming weekend. I can only hope that upper deck gives me an official answer regarding my eligibility to compete in future events rather then taking the word from a group of influential players that seem to hold a petty grudge. In my opinion more oversight by the parent company is needed to manage regional events such as midwinter. My flight and hotel have been cancelled with a monetary lost. I did not request a refund from midwinter as i recently received notice that the event organizer are struggling financially with the event.
Anyways, now for the secret tech. below is the list i would of ran at the main event this coming saturday
The deck plays very straight forward and takes the strongest strategies of the format to high levels. With kate prydes ramp like ability you are able to draw your entire deck and play your entire deck on the board on your 2nd turn. Almost every character in the deck has the swarm keyword to take advantage of ultrons draw ability. I personally like to go 2nd with this deck and i try to focus my muligans to getting ultrons and frank drake in hand. Once you draw your deck with the assistance of the machine equipment you have two options to win on turn 3. You can kill your opponent with punisher with every copy of his power up in hand ( up to 4 wounds in a turn) or you can go the senator kelly route and equip senator kelly with a weapon, and have a gadget in hand just in case your opponent gets through your entire deck of characters in play. Your kang future date will alway be 5 (your turn 2 with 5 resources). That way you have 4 kangs out that are 5/5 with 2 health flight and range that can strike for up to 20 together. This makes it possible to stun any character you want starting from turn 2 on. You can play the deck in a variety of ways, but one thing is for sure your games will end either turn 3 or turn 4.
In testing the deck i found that i had no bad match ups and found the normal kate kelly match to be of such ease due to the amount of characters this deck can push out in one turn. No amount of defense was enough to stop a full deck of characters clearing your board to get rid of an opposing senator kelly. The punisher tech was key in the healing symbiote match ups which didnt allow them a chance to get their heal loops going. Especially with punisher equipped with a weapon.
With this list i believe i would of had a strong contention to winning the event.
For the side event team battle i had planned to play my my nebula deck with some updates to win games as early as turn 3.
